Where’s my female character for GTA games?
Sure, the fact that Grand Theft Auto games have been dominated by males characters is nothing new but with the release of GTA 5 I really thought we’d see the end of it. In GTA 5 you get to play as multiple characters and so what did Rockstar do?
Make all of the playable characters male of course! Granted it might be more believable that the random acts of violence depicted in GTA games are better suited for male personality traits but I’m not going to swallow that! I want to see a strong, confident woman blasting cop cars and involved in major heists! When do we get to see this?
We’re at a point in gaming where the main character can be customized for a more tailored experience especially for gender and even sexuality. Fallout games, Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect are great examples of games that give you actual options in terms of gender, why not all games? (A female version of Mario or a game where the Princess saves his little Italian butt might also be refreshing)
